Many of us have heard the sayings, “Your network is your net worth,” and, “you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with,” right?  So it shouldn't be a surprise then that no one person is an island.  We are all shaped by our experiences and the people around us.

And this is what makes networking so important. But SO many people, myself included, cringe at the thought of it.  You hear the word “net…’ and immediately tune out, or change the subject like, “So how about those Buckeyes?”  

I’ve avoided networking events in the past because I’m shy and introverted and just didn’t know what to say.  Others say it’s not always efficient because there are so many people and they feel overwhelmed.  But networking is a critical part of our lives.  After all, for business owners, we have a product or service to offer and we can’t do that if we don’t talk to people. Networking is how we market ourselves to the community.
